703 Injectors and CA Smog...
I'm looking for testimonials from anyone in California who has done the 703 injector swap on their Renix-era XJ and subsequently passed emissions testing. I picked up the injectors the other day but I've been reading about Renix motors running very rich on these injectors and while folks out in the Kentucky sticks probably don't give a rats a$$ about cooking their cats, I kinda do.

Subscribed...It's hard enough to pass an older vehicle here but I hear good results as far as MPG's go with the 703's and gas is gold.

I hear cooked cats are a delicacy in Kentucky. YUMMY!
It should not make any difference, if it does emissions would be lower.
The spray is finer, more efficient.
And they don't run richer - the O2 sensor adjusts the open times. They are CAPABLE of feeding more fuel on demand, but they don't do it normally.
Should not be a problem, just don't tell the smog tech it's modified.

My concern was that, being a Renix, the O2 sensors don't compensate. My understanding is that the Renix ECU is a non-learning control unit, set and fixed from the factory.
That said, I did the injector swap last weekend and have been pleasantly surprised at the improved off-the-line performance. I've been monitoring my fuel economy for the past three months (with stock injectors) and will report back any difference with the 703s. So far, it appears that I'm getting about the same (which is what I've read I should expect) but I'll have a better idea after filling up tonight. I do have a few 0-60 runs to test the 1st to 2nd upshift and a little spirited driving which may affect my mileage for this tank but I guess we'll see.
One thing is for sure, I've noticed no adverse effects. It doesn't run rich, in fact, it seems to run much cleaner than it did before. There is zero smell of fuel at the tailpipe; there was before. It idles silky smooth at 600 RPM and accelerates to redline with no hesitation. I used to notice (pre-swap) a slight hick-up as I accelerated from a stop, it doesn't do that anymore.

A finer spray vs a stream of fuel on the old ones does make a difference. You'll notice emissions are down too.
The Renix does learn, each time you drive it - when you shut off, it forgets.

Well, here are the results from her last treadmill. This was from October 2011 and she's not due again until October 2013. Hoping for similar results...

I did the swap, I am in San Jose and I passed even with my cat about a foot too far back, hopefully it will do better with it in the proper location this November
