Default Compressor pully/serpentine belt

I would like to remove as much of the A/C system as possible but not sure if I have to install another idler pully to take up the slack in the serpentine belt when I pull out the A/C compressor or if there is a shorter belt available.
Any advice is appreciated,
thanks,
Chris

IN order to pull the AC you have to get a non ac equipped ac bracket that has an idler pulley. You are going to have to look for engine specific bracket. in other words a 2.5 one wont work on a 4.0. More then likely you will not find a xj with ac delete, you are going to have to find a MJ that is that way.

MY 90 MJ was equipped with ac, I replaced it with a NONac equipped motor. I dont have any pics of what the difference is., and since I have a broken leg and foot I cant get any pics.

Here you go I did all the hard work for you.

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...+59999+2999999

I did this to my 93. What a difference this made, I saw a gain in MPGs and HP. The front of the motor runs smother and quieter.

I also removed the condenser and saw improvements in cooling. There was dried up mud between my radiator and condenser.

Plus all that aluminum to scrap it will pay for a new belt and the by pass pulley. haha had to its new.

Your link doesn't work for me but thanks, I understand the direction your
suggesting. I'm sure the dealer will still carry it if I can't find a wrecked one.

Just to finish off this thread, couldn't find a A/C delete bracket and pulley at the wreckers and the dealership wanted over $275.00 w/taxes soooo
I hollowed out the compressor. Took all the guts out (and there is some very cool looking stuff in there) and re-mounted it with just the shell and the pulley. Altogether I think I pulled about 60lbs of extra weight off.
