Cold Cherokee A/C just a myth?
Was just curious about how many of the guys on
Here have working air conditioners. I'll start by saying my jeep is a black 2kxj limited with leather seats. And when she sits she gets HOT! she blows air and feels like she wants to get cold but fails to get any colder than slightly below room.

No myth. My '98 blows very cold within 30 seconds (colder than my wife's pride & joy Honda Accord). It certainly doesn't help that you have a black one since dark colors are less reflective, but you probably have other issues with the components.

I failed to mention I have not tried am a/c recharge. I just didn't want to spend 30 for a kit and have it be blowing warm air again in 2 weeks.

You can hang meat in my 99 with the AC on.
I work on most things on my XJ, but when it comes to AC, I take it to my friends shop where they have the equipment to properly test charge, sniff for leaks, add dye, etc. to properly diagnose and repair the issue. There is more to it than meets the eye.

I mean, my Altima will freeze me out but my XJ does a decent job. From time to time i do have to put a little of that AC can stuff. Never could find the leak, which I hope isnt in the evap core. But its a cold drive on a 90* day

My 95 blows decently cold, but that's because I recently replaced the AC Condenser and 2 new lines. Re-charged A/C and now blows pretty cold. Not new BMW cold...but cold if need be.

Careful. We've had my wife's 01 for a few years and never used ac because it wasn't cold. Recently it was in the shop and she had them get the ac working. They changed a couple of valves and topped it off with refridgerant and oil. It was blowing very cold for a week. Then we went on a trip and the pulley bearing started to go. Luckily we made it home and she drove it to work for 3 days before the bearing finally seized. Right now I'm running the pulley from my 99 but the clutch doesn't fit right so I'm back to no ac temporarily.

Jeez looks like I need to get my act together. My usual reply if someone asks if my jeep has A/C I say "yeah, 3 of em. You want em rolled down?"

My AC blows cold, but doesn't get the cabin feeling chilly. I'll only feel cold if I'm right in front of a vent and that's if my hand is in front of it.
