Question A/C Not Working Everywhere BUT The Windshield?

Its been REALLY hot lately and my A/C stopped blowing air one day? I can hear the fans going, but nothing cold/warm s coming out. The air vents under the front window do work, so I can get rid of fogging. I checked behind the controls and everything was connected correctly? What should I do next?

Vaccuum lines. If you have the cannister undone inside your bumper then it will blow like that. I would just check all of them and see what they look like

X2 vacuum lines. I replaced mine with the water line they use to connect icemakers. Was 19 cents a foot and has worked great for the past 4 months.

You could probably do it yourself if you trace the air lines. I would start at the canister behind the bumper.

Just hate to see someone pay a shop to replace a cheap vacuum line.

I had the same problem, mine ended up being a break in the tiny line that runs into the cabin that actually controls the climate stuff, the line was resting up against a coolant line and had melted, must have traced all the lines 5 times before I noticed it.

Thats funny that it does it up hill because mine does it when Im on the freeway and Im getting on the gas to pass someone. lol But when cruising it blows out the dash vents. I know I have a line that is pinched when I mover that canister from my bumper to my engine bay.

your ac system gets its vacuum pressure and it goes directly to the canister. If you step on the throttle, the pressure drops, the canister is to store pressure for that exact reason. If you unplug the lines, blow in them, you should be able to isolate the problem.

Well took it to the shop to get the air to blow out the front vents and they searched everywhere just like i did for a vacuum leak and they couldn't find one, they said something is broke behind the dash, so they quoted me $480 just to take the dash out and find whats wrong. thats not including the part......so im having them do it.

Your vacuum tank isn't holding vacuum when the engine is at low vacuum, like when getting on the gas. Either a line is cracked and leaking slowly or the check valve in the vacuum line by the intake manifold isn't working. My one-way check valve was acting like a no-way. I replaced it with a cheap universal valve and now I have dash vents whenever I want.

All HVAC systems default to Defrost when the vacuum fails - safety feature.

You have a leak...easy to fix at home.
