Not hard at all, as long as you can get the pump off the tank without damaging the tank. Crud builds up, clean well and go cautiously. You'll see how it all comes apart/together.
Are you sure you need a pump? Do you not hear any sound when you try to use it. If no sound have you checked the fuse? If sound have you checked the hoses for blockage? Checked tank filter screen on fluid pickup? Mine gets plugged with junk sometimes. I need to clean mine now that I think about it, thanks for reminding me.

No sound. Looking for the fuse.

If it is not the fuse, do I need to take the fender off to get to it?

you only need to pull the plastic splash guard down a bit to access the bottle.
then, all you need to do is pull the plastic pump out. it's that simple. it's only held in there by the rubber grommet.
don't forget to drain the tank first or you will loose all your washer fluid.

there are two, one for the front and one for the rear.

Default fuse location

I'm having the same problem. Can anyone please tell me which fuse controls the pump?

Does the rear washer work?

Do the front wipers work?

There's only one circuit protection device for all of these. It's a 20 Amp Circuit Breaker in the Junction Block.

Edit: Correction: The rear washer pump and wiper is powered by a 20 Amp fuse #22 in the Junction Block.

I'm having the same problem with my 01 (front pump). Don't hear any noise from the pump. I guess next step is check the fuse before I change the pump, does anyone know which fuse is used for front wiper fluid pump(01 cherokee)?

Could also be the multi function switch. Mine crapped out and I lost the washer switch, the wipers work it just doesn't activate the pump. I swapped the hoses on the res and use the rear switch as a temporary solution. If I don't end up replacing the multi function switch I'll just run a new switch to run the pump.

all you will need to do is switch the hoses from one pump to the other, very simple. you will just need to remove the plastic splash shield to gain access to the washer bottle.
