Is there a way to get a less expensive key fob other than through the dealer? Have a 96 XJ that has what I think is an IR sensor bulb on the ceiling near the overhead lights. Auto unlock is the only function it would be used for.

i just replaced the whole setup with a viper keyless entry system (both fobs were dead):

www.keylessride.com will have the fob, but you would be happier with a new RF system. The IR system sucks at best, no range and you have to aim at the black dome.

This thread came along at just the right time ! I was looking to get a key fob also, but just ordered the one demill89 posted ! Thanks for that link !

I kinda wonder if one of these would also work on the wife's Buick Park Avenue (??)
