Yeah I wish the federal govt would step in and require all states to run basic emissions tests and make sure people are running working cats...IMHO not running one, or running a non working one is irresponsible and illegal..Honestly if you chose to break the law you really shouldn't brag about it and just keep it to yourself....I also think all cars on the road no matter what model yr should be required to run one to be street legal...anyways enough out of me it's just a hot topic for me...

Cat shouldn't affect the sound...now that cherry bomb is what is affecting it and if you were my neighbor we'd be having issues as well..I personally can not stand loud exhaust..A nice rumbling sound I like, but not loud and annoying.. I guess I am getting old..

if you mean like ricers, the cherrybomb sounds nothing like that. on the jeep it gives it a lower pitched town and more of a growl. its pretty bad ***. my friends zj has no muffler and it sounds like theres no cat to. it sounds bad *** but theres no quiet point. like if im driving down the road, i can let off the gas a bit and it becomes quiet as stock. but drop it down a gear and bring up the rpms and it roars.

Cherry Bombs can give two different sounds depending on which direction you mount them.

Baffles facing into flow...loud/mellow
Baffles facing with flow...plain loud

something was said about diesels blowing black smoke. well anyone newer than 07, which came out eary 06, have a converter on them. and the emissions on them are a lot harder than they are on gas engines.
