Your 92 has only 1 O2 sensor and that's on the down tube just after the exhaust manifold..There is no after cat O2 sensor..So you are all good..

Just a reminder that cats are required by federal law.,...not to mention not exactly environmentally friendly to not run one and also one more thing to add to the fire for those who want to take away public wheeling land..

Honestly someone running one that doesn't work is as bad as not having one at all..Mine still works just not overly well but the new one is due in this week then a complete new exhaust gets tossed on.. The increase in mpg isn't much so I don't see what the advantage is in not running one? My buddy wasn't running one for a while to test the mpg increase and it was not what I would call worth while..

AND (this was not mentioned) Removal ,without the intent of replacement, of any emissions component be it by a repair shop or by owner can result in a hefty fine (I last heard $10,000) and jail-time.

For a few bucks a new converter is worth it. You may not see any immediate improvement of MPG... that motors been running with a stuffed up exhaust for mostlikely a long time, it will take some time to get things back to running the way they are supposed to.
There is probably alot of carbon built up on the exhaust valves that they arent sealing and flowing the way they should.

I would suggest, change entire exhaust including O2 sensor and Converter. Run some Seafoam thru the intake. Clean off your IAT (or relocate). Unclog your CCV.

Woops....forgot we're talking OBD-I here, so there is only one o2 sensor.....my bad!

In that case, replace that one oxygen sensor then...waaaaaaay past due for replacement.
