throttle body spacers
If anyone that has a throttle body spacer for their cherokee want to give me the lowdown on if they are worth it and how much "bolt on horsepower" is actually gained. If they are not worth buying than do you know of any other "bolt on horsepower" type aftermarket parts i can get for my 99 cherokee. Please only comment on the throttle body spacer if you have one or have had one or you know of someone who has one.

I had one on my old XJ, and for the most part never could tell a difference. Now that being said it was also a Renix XJ

I have 1" spacer on mine, its ok not a big difference. If your gonna get one, Ebay is the place to get it. Lie was said $35 or so shipped.

I think based on what I have read AFE has better response on intake systems..just don't get a K&N filter or any cotton gauze type filter..

I got a question...what's a helix and swivel spacer? I don't plan on getting one just curious how they are different then standard tb spacers..

K&N which uses a cotton/gauze style filter let's in way to much dirt which is ok for street use but bad for offroad use..You are better off with a stock paper filter or a cone that's the paper style..I use to have a link to an independant company that did some tests on various filters brands and types and show flow, fiiltration and so on and K&N was basically on the bottom end on actual filtration but top end on breathability which is good for racing and on road but bad for offroad in the dirt and sand and such..You don't want dirt in your engine now do ya..
Anyways just my thoughts based on my research..
Personally I think I am just going to invest in a snorkle..

Yeah take those Fram filters of any sort and use em as ash trays, and targets for you shotgun, rifle and pistols at the local range.. They will protect your engine about as well as Penzoil and oh crap what's that other crap brand that uses high perifan wax (or how ever ya spell it) molecules..

Just to add a tip..If you have a K&N style filter meaning a cotton/gauze style filter a trick to help keep dust out when offroad is to take a pair of panty hose and wrap the filter..will add a little dirt protection and filtration without the expense or a pre-filter. Sounds corny but back in the day that's what we did on our open filters to add additional protection out at the river..
Yeah I have done that in dusty conditions. It started when my wife found a pair of pantyhose in the Jeep and wanted an explanation so I showed her. Have a pair in the glovebox still. Makes your filter go longer between cleanings too.
