A/C issues
So my 2000XJ blows decently cold air even on days like today (90+ and muggy)....until I turn it off and back on again. If I stop for gas or to run in a store and start on my way again the A/C blows hot humid air (kind of feels like its coming from directly outside).
When I let the Jeep cool completely it blows cold again.
I got home from work after driving with nice cold air the whole way home today, and decided to try something. I turned off the A/C and immediately turned it back on....hot air again.
No engine temp issues, coolant is full, air blows cold as long as I dont turn it off and bak on so I am assuming the system is charged. Assuming this makes sense, anyone have any ideas?

What do you mean: when you turn it back on, it blows hot air and keeps doing that or does it eventually turn cold again?

It sounds to me like the a/c solenoid or the compressor clutch is not picking up when hot. You should be able to hear the solenoid pickup if it is operating properly. The a/c clutch can be seen engaging and disengaging. Good luck.

You just agree with everything here now, dont ye...
How about: what's the A/c solenoid actually? Or are we talking about the pressure cute out switches..?

Hey Roler. The a/c solenoid (called a relay too) is found in the fuse/solenoid (relay) box under the hood. It should be labeled on the under side of the cover. When the a/c is turned on, you should be able to hear it click (turn on). When the solenoid turns on it supplies power to the a/c clutch which then pulls in and engages. You should be able to watch the clutch engage and disengage (spin and stop spinning). Good luck. Sorry if I caused confusion by calling it a solenoid instead of a relay.

Roler: When I turn it back on it blows hot/humid air and stays that way.
Gonna check the relay though. Thanks
