Default Buying tires

Where do you guys buy tires where they don't tell you the tires you want don't fit your jeep? Every place I look on-line want to know the vehicle, then won't sell them to you because they aren't the proper size for your jeep and don't want to sell them to you on a carry out basis. I know exactly what I want and need them quickly, but can't seem to find somebody to sell them to me. I'm starting to get VERY frustrated!

I ordered tires for my YJ from Tirerack.com. They weren't the original size and they emailed me to ensure I was in fact looking for that size. I also picked them up in Denver as its only about a 2 hour drive. Pretty hassle free.

Ive bought plenty from TireRack over the years and never had a problem with application. I just looked up the brand and size i wanted, and that was it. Did this with the Mustang for years, and the XJ just last year.

I made the mistake of putting in my vehicle and that was it, end of conversation. I just went to simpletire.com and it couldn't be simpler! Thanks Lady Kenai! There are even different load ratings and tread wear warenties for the same AT3s!

This forum and you guys are truly wonderful!

Yup, same here. I've ordered all sorts of tires from TR over the years and never had an issue. Many were not factory size.

No problems with my Jeep, brother's Jeep, dad's FJ Cruiser, and dad's previous Chevy Duramax at Discount Tire having them put bigger tires on.

As as long as the load range and speed rating doesn't go down, you're good.

Not to get involved in a political discussion, but I'm wondering if because I'm living in a liberal state, there are insurance regulations that are getting in the way. Nobody local will put any tires on any vehicle that aren't approved by the manufacturer "for insurance reasons" (in their words.). They don't want to be liable for damages caused by improper tires on your vehicle. Dunn Tire, whom I've dealt with for the last 8 years won't even sell them on a "carry out" basis! My mechanic is checking if he can get them himself, but if he can't I know I've got places to go, thanks to you guys.

Just had the same problem myself today! Only place I found before coming here and searching was Goodyear. They had a couple options, but those were only the vehicle-recommended ones. Looking though simpletire.com now though!

If it's not derailing your thread too much, what are your considerations for non-stock tire size? I've stuck with stock myself before now, but am thinking about at least getting something a little wider.
