Okay, here is my deal. The dealer that sold me my Cherokee had someone who owed him some money put bedliner on the roof of my heep. The guy really didn't want to do it, so he did a crappy job. No prep, just rolled liner on the roof. It's peeling and there is some rust under it. I need to sand and strip all that junk off. My questions are...

If I sand it down, where there is rust, do I need to prime it before putting bedliner back over it? What kind of primer should I use that would be compatable with the bedliner? I really don't want to go to all the trouble to clean this mess up and have it still peel off because I used the wrong primer!!!

Help me, Please!!!

But a can of Rust converter from Auto zone or anywhere. If you have it prepped pretty good prior to putting rust converter down you will be fine. It will turn the rusted areas into black primer and it didn't affect any of my bedlining.

all the bed-liners i have seen and used say that you ar suppose to put it over your excisting paint. Just suppose to scuff the clear coat off. I would say if your going to prime it, use good primer and do it the right way.

if you remember the frame on my yj, i used something called rust shield, by sem. great stuff. it won't look like a bedliner, but it is serious stuff. if you don't ever want it to rust agiain, sand it down, clean it and just use that, no primer needed. i was amazed at this stuff. if you go this route, let me know, i'll give ya a few tips i learned the hard way.

Only thing I saw when looking at that is the disclaimer that it may fade if exposed to sunlight. Would that be what I want on the roof, then??? Sounds like a great product other than that.
