Big Tires On A Stock XJ
What Is The Biggest Size Of Tire You Can Fit In A Stock XJ With No Lift Without Having It Rub? Anybody Have Any Pictures Of What It Would Look Like? Can 30s Fit?

Well it depends if your springs have any drooping or sagging. The max I would go if your in good shape is 30x9.50 otherwise I think if you put to much tire in a small space it looks stupid period. 235x15 would look great on a stock jeep this would be the perfect size.

This is with 31 x 10.5 R 15 tires. They weren't new (50% in the rear and 25% in the front) and I don't sag that much. (Do I even sag?) It will rub, if I do a tight U-Turn. I get a noise in the back if I have a passenger and hit a good bump.

because of the stock height or because of the wide tires?
they are the tires that came with it when i bought it.
it's time finally.. im looking around for the budget lift to get me about 2" more of clearance. someone posted a kit with shocks included for like $198 but i cant find it now.
I've used the 4wd already on packed trails with no issue. also thru some short sand paths with no issue. Since rain is VERY rare here, i'll probably not see any mud.
so why the ?
*EDIT**
never mind.. found it- http://store.fatbobsgarage.com/jeep-...001-p7510.aspx

i just ditched my worn-out 225/75/15's on stock 15x7 steelies for a set of used 31/10.50/15's w/ 33%(ish) tread on tj canyon 15x8 wheels. my front sits pretty cuz i just replaced the shocks w/ rs5000's. i just had to put some washers on the pass. side stop bolt to keep it from rubbing on the sway bar links/mounts (which was already a problem w/ the other tires/rims)..the back sits just right, if you don't mind worn-out springs/shocks (future project). if i have passengers, i make sure they put their weight towards the front.

XJ's with the Command-Trac transfer case use a part-time 4x4 system. This means the front and rear axles are locked together, causing them to turn at the same speed. On hard surfaces, with two different tire sizes, the axles want to be turning at the same RPM, but the front and rear different sized tires turn at a different RPM at the same speed. In mud, it's no problem, the tires can slip, but on hard surfaces, it causes severe internal binding in the t-case. This is why part-time is no good on pavement. It's also why you never use 4x4 with a donut-sized spare tire.

Hey thereTeneciousLopez, I am running 30"x9.5" BFG A/T's on stock wheels and no lift. I rub ever so slightly when I am fully articulated. Other than than if you were rubbing on the lower control arms then you could just dial out the wedge adjustment and you would be good to go. If I were you I would do 30 by 9.5, the benifits of the larger tire will outweigh the slight rubbing you will get. Just my opinion.
