Default 2000 GC bull bar on a 95 XJ

Hi. Does anyone know if a 2000 GC bull bar could fit on a 95 XJ? I know you can make anything fit so it's more of a question of, how wide is a 2000 GC? If its much wider they'd overhang a lot and I wouldn't want that. Also, are the mounting points at a similar width apart? There's one I've found for sale without brackets so I'll have to fab them anyway.

Bull bars aren't easy to find here hence why I'm considering this one. It's about an hours drive from me and with us in lockdown, I can't just go and see it in person until restrictions are lifted. I'd be happy to drive out there afterwards to see how it'd fit if it seems viable, but if it's going to be widly different, there's no point.

Thanks

What exactly do you mean by a bull bar.
Cause to me this is a bull bar.

Amazon Amazon

Which is different then a push bar.

Amazon Amazon

Which is different then a brush guard.

Cause when you said " If its much wider they'd overhang a lot and I wouldn't want that." makes me think you mean a brush guard.
So if you did I am thinking it would not work. A '00 GC brush guard is not straight across.
The part that goes over the headlights is angled back. To the contour of the shape of the nose.

Brush guard it is. I've always known them as bull bars. Isn't UK/US terminology differences great.

The picture on this listing below does not look to have that bent shape and looks relatively straight. If it has a minor bend inwards where the sides meet the middle, which it may looking at the picture, it could be pushed straight.

Maybe it's not from a 2000. What do you think?

Most 1984-2001 mount the same. You will need the mounting hardware.

Well to me it does not look like it is angled. But that could just be the picture.
Almost positive that all the WJ brush guards I have seen are angled.
Doesn't mean they all are. Just the ones I have seen.
So for starters betting you could find the width of both a WJ and an XJ out there in internet land.
Give you an idea of how far out it would stick.
Betting WJ's are wider. But is it so much so that you could not live it with it.
On to the mounting.
I picked a used one awhile back. I believe it to be a Manik but not sure.
It mounts to the tow hook brackets on my XJ. The tow hook brackets are the 2 pieces in the lower left of the last picture.
Now remember that my XJ is an '00. Your XJ uses ones that look exactly the same but they are different.
My understanding is not how they mount to the uni-body but how the bumpers mount to them.
Plus your valance and bumper caps are different so some trimming would be involved.
And I think not all brush guards mount like the one I have. And I am talking about ones for XJ's. There is additional hardware involved.
We can't really see the mounting points in the picture and there is a chance that there is additional hardware involved.
I don't see how a WJ could be a straight bolt on for an XJ

Part of me is wondering if they mis-listed and it's from a Cherokee. I have asked them for dimensions, whether or not I get any is another thing. Thanks for the info so far.

Is it too far of a drive to go aver and match it up to your jeep to see if it looks like it will work?

During this lockdown, yes. Afterwards, I'd be happy to try exactly that.

The seller got back to me insisting it'll only work on a GC but I don't think they understand that I'll be adapting it if suitable. If I could put a 110cc in a lawn mower and still have it cut grass, I think I'd be okay with this task.

After looking into brush guards for ZJs and WJs, I'm convinced it's from a ZJ as it just doesn't show a WJ shape.

I did a quick google on widths and the ZJ is only slightly wider than the XJ. There's some hope if the seller would work with me. The measurement I asked them for would confirm for sure which GC it's intended for.

Get some shots of the mounting points if you can.
Ask him if there is any additional hardware and if so get shots of that.
Find a website that sells a a brush guard for a ZJ.
Sometimes they have the installation instructions on the webpage.
May not be the exact way that one installs but at least gives you an idea of what you are dealing with.
Maybe also give you an idea if and how you can fit it on a XJ.

I'll do more digging tomorrow and good ideas.
