Default Best radiator for an '01?

Does anyone have any radiators that they would suggest for putting in an '01?
Few questions.
1) 2 or 3 row radiator? My cherokee is completely stock and I've been having some overheating issues, nothing too major though. Will be replacing my water pump along with my radiator.
2) Depending on 2 or 3 row which radiators would you guys suggest? I have been looking at a CSF radiator, since it has good reviews from what I've heard.

Thanks in advance

I have the 3-row CSF with about 200 miles on it, so it's a little soon to really know whether it holds up as well as it should, but it appears to be put together really well. I had two of those crappy plastic tank radiators leak. I'll be really surprised if the CSF comes apart.

^^This^^
When I replaced mine that's all I did. For around $100 you can't go wrong. I changed it over 5 years ago now and never had a problem with it. And I live in South Texas where we get temps up to 110 deg and my 98 stays between 210 and 214 all day long.

^^^^Good advice......the AZ rad has been working fine in our XJ for 4+ years now. The FSM says the plastic tanks are stronger than metal tanks but nothing is indestructible. Guess what kind of rad u'll find in a $100K Mercedes......it ain't no all metal old school copper/brass rad.

Oh, I forgot......if there were a "best" rad, there would only one rad available....as the others would be out of business.

A lot of people think copper and brass is more durable than plastic tanks, but also consider the head transfer properties versus aluminum and the size of our radiator. Efficiency is important too.

The big advantages of going with the Auto Zone rad is 1) the life time warranty. If some thing does happen to it you don't have to wait to ship yours back and them to ship you a new one if you order one. 2) You can't beat the price. 3) with all of the extra money that you save over the high dollar rads you can practically replace the entire cooling system.

I just replaced one in my 2000 XJ a couple months ago. Got it from Advance Auto Parts for about $75 online and picked up at my local store 30 minutes later. Works great and the price was unbeatable.

Found this post and it was very useful because I also need to replace a radiator in a 2000 xj. It is leaking most noticeably when I park it. When replacing the radiator is this the best time to replace the hoses? How do I know if I need either of the 2 Dayco Radiator hoses that are suggested purchases (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/d...1321/5197961-P) ? Do i need to do anything with the water pump?

New to fixing cars so any help would be great.

AutoZone for about $100 with a good warranty is all you need.

This is the perfect time to redo the entire cooling system. Along with the rad get the hoses, water pump, t-stat, fan clutch and don't forget a new rad cap. You can get everything for around $250.

I recommend Gates hoses and drive belt.

I've had bad luck with Dayco products.

I'm replacing mine this weekend with an Autozone radiator, hoses (Dayco), bought a thermostat on Amazon with my fuel pump (prime shipping). If I had more money then I'd probably upgrade to a CSF radiator but I think the off the shelf will suffice for around town trips and easy off-roading. If I were carrying full replacement bumpers/skids/sliders/bigger tires/people+bags then I'd upgrade to a bigger radiator and maybe an extra electric fan with a switch.

I think everyone has the one they like, until it cracks or whatever then that brand is trash from then on out. At least that was the situation with my Xterra community, Koyo was king until you get a leak.

I will look into all this and probably a few youtube videos. Do you have any recommended walkthrus from this forum? I will probably order all this stuff plus the gaskets that sound right, but do not really know what I am doing. Thats half the fun though, right?

I don't have any write up on this but it is pretty straight forward to do. I you have any doubts on how to do it take a lot of pictures as you go along. This will give you a good idea on how the parts go back into place.
BTW, If you have any problems just post them here and there are plenty of us that will be more then happy to help you along the way. Keep us updated on the outcome.
