can someone tell me the ACTUAL battery that we are suppose to use? model #. the guy i got the jeep from bought a battery and put it in that looks like its for a motorcycle.

Not sure what battery goes in these things, i had a brand new battery in my yota that i was gonna switch with the one in the xj that expired in 2006 and it didnt fit...was too big. so i switched it into the camry instead

as long as you have at least 640 CCA (cold cranking amps) then you should be fine. that is like a 700 amp battery. the more the better so i say get a duralast gold or an optima, they work great!

ok thats what i was trying to find out. the battery in it now is like half the size of a regular battery.

i wouldn't get a battery with a very high CCA, i work in a shop that installs batteries and i cant count the number of cars, suv's and trucks that come in with fried wires cause the battery power is more then the stock wireing can handle

Im using a redtop battery for a for F150.. just slightly modified the battery holder and bent the rad tube bracket a little

yes a group 34 battery is the right one.

I always buy the higher CCA as well. It should not be able to damage the vehicle wiring unless it has been modified?

That is a question because the last time my wife had to replace her battery the auto parts guy was warning her not to go for the higher CCA battery.

I like the larger battery so that I don't have to wonder if it will start after listening to the radio for 30 min without the car running.

My Jeep has the "correct" battery acording to the stealership but if you leave the interier light on or run the radio for 30-60 min the thing will not start. Thought it was the battery going bad but it checks good. Plan to upgrade before the cold sets in.

x2 hate the batterys in these xjs. I left the lights on in my xj for like 4 hours when i was at school and it wouldnt even try to crank, but on my old yota i left them on the whole day (like 7-8 hours) and it had enough juice to turn it over a few times. Theyre just not big enough

get an optima yellow top. problem solved. you could run an entire entertainment center with surround sound for 3 hours on that thing while the car was off and still have enough juice to start your rig!

wow are they really that good? I want a battery that i can leave my lights on for light 8 hours and then come outside and start my jeep lol

My buddie, who is a certified electrition, suggested staying away from Optima. He said they aren't as reliable as everyone makes them out to be. My old roommate backed this up when he had to return 2 red tops that he used in his '71 Chevelle.

I've never run one, but I thought I'd mention this.
