I know this is old but after reading this it motivated me to change my gasket that has a slight leak. I picked up a fel pro rubber gasket, I am wondering if I should put rtv sealant on it at all?

I don't see why it would hurt. I would imagine you wouldn't need nothing more than a thin bead though.
I'm planning on changing my valve cover gasket here soon myself.
