Why don't you search on how to replace your heater core in an XJ and then decide if you want to use stop leak.
There's nothing that will stop money from leaking out of your bank account after using that stuff.

I have used it in a 67 T-Bird with a 390 engine before. I was out in the middle of no where and the only place was a little mom and pop store and they had it. It did stop the leak but I ended up having to change out a few parts after word because of clogging and over heated. If I were you I would just fix it the right way because it will cause more problems down the line.

I'll be the odd man out here and say it worked for me on my heater core. I used the silver stuff from Bars Leak......and only half of the bottle in a recently flushed cooling system with a new radiator and water pump. http://barsproducts.com/catalog/view...stop-leak-1186
Here's some information and more opinions on the subject. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/any...maseal-110309/
I just checked out my thread and see it's been about 9 months ago that I used it...........still have heat and no coolant smell in the cab.

I also have used it without an issue. A couple years back while at Michigan Speedway, my truck developed a pinhole in the rad. I picked up some Bar's liquid and it sealed almost immediately. I intended to replace the rad later, but it hasn't leaked since and nothing cooling system related or heater has acted funny or the truck run hot. I've trailered with the truck since numerous times and ran it on the interstates, no issues at all.
I've heard the horror stories before and I'm sure nobody here is telling tales, but I've heard more successful uses of Bar's along with my personal experience. I'm sure the overall condition of the cooling system plays into whether or not you will have problems after using a sealant or not. That just makes sense.

I think we should probably back up a few steps and make sure the OP is talking about using Bars Leaks for his cooling system.
They also make quite a few other stop leak products for power steering, transmissions, rear main seals and such.

I dumped some in my MJ & still leaked.I put too much in it & stopped up my heater core.It turned out to be my water pump about to fall apart.I checked the damn thing before I used Bars.
Like said, fix the problem, don't make more.

Cooling system? It's OK on a get-you-back-home sort of basis. If it clogs your system, your system was already partially clogged. GM installed the fibrous stop-leak tablets at the factory for quite a few years.
Problem is people dump it in and think the problem is "fixed", then one day the leak grows beyond what the stop-leak can fix and there's an underhood geyser that would make Old Faithful blush. Probably during rush hour, with a dead cell phone battery in the bad part of town....

Eh, I've used the radiator stop leak on two Jeeps so far and it worked fine, did it's job. My father has used it on many vehicles, he said it always worked great. Plus, I like the way it smells...lol

As stated above...it doesn't "fix" anything...it just delays the inevitable. I discovered a radiator leak on the first cold day in december a couple years ago. 12 hours later it snowed two feet and stayed for 6 months. I dumped the stuff in because I was lazy, and it was cold. It kept the jeep going until it got decent enough outside to replace the radiator. If you're in a fix, it's ok to use to get by. It's not a permanent repair. If you go into it with that attitude, it'll be ok. FYI, the stuff with the pellets in it works better than the all liquid aluminum flake stuff. No problems with heater core so far...Also, if you can find Prestone antifreeze, it does an ok job too, if you feel like draining/filling the system.
