just wonderin if any one has any1 n here ever put super duty axels under there xj if so was just wonderin about the dues and don't and was u statified thanks

The driveside tube is a bit small if you want to use a stock size coil bucket up front. Also the 250 is a Dana 50 which doesn't have much aftermarket support. The Sterling rear is quite strong. Keep in mind the bolt pattern is metric so wheels are a little more limited than other 8 lugs.

so sounds like ur bashin the idea pretty bad but the super duty stuff as to be alot stronger than the cherokee axels

well i think hes just sayin itd prolly take a bit of fab work to make it work and for the money youd be better off just goin with a d44 or ford 8.8 thats just my .02

If I had mine to do again I'd find a 78-79 Ford Dana 60 front because they have the largest driver side tube of any year and they are king pin instead of ball joint. Plus 60s have tons of aftermarket support. I like the rear I have but if doing it again I'd use a 14 bolt since they are a bit stronger. Shafts are the same size as a rock. Actually if I had it to do again I'd go with unimogs but I don't have that kind of coin.

the only reason i was thinkin of doin it was the company i work for had some guy role a 03 super duty and i hit them up about it and they sad i could probably get the whole thing for crusher price

i was just kickin around puttin some full widths under my cherokee, i was thinking D50 and the sterling rear, or a 14bolt i can get those relatively cheap, my friends run 60's in some of there wranglers. but, there a little out of my price range. so, i think im gonna start stockin up on some stuff and park the jeep so i can start rippin and tearin.

also i do think the 50's may be a little weaker, but i think they would be more than enough for a cherokee

and about the aftermarket support, not really planning on goin too crazy, or spending alot either

ya i just don't c me grenadin super duty axel with the mainly stock 4.3 but if i let my buddies talk me in to the 350 then i might have some problems i just no anything is better than the toy axel has under it now

haha yea and not to mention they look sick with the tires stickin out another 3" on each side

i was debatin the whole 350 idea, but ive heard its a big PITA, might just gear the rears super low if i swap em in, like 538 ish

i have a set of d 60 close knuckles and d 70 that came out of a kaiser but really don't want to put them under my xj but they do have 5.88s is the lug pattern that i hate and i'm not much on the split rims

there is a guy who posted 01 f250 super duty axles with 36 iroks for $600.... i want them so bad. i do think you could make them work for the cherokee they are driveside drop! i would do it and if you find a d60 throw it under but if not just run the d50 its strong enough!

personally i wouldnt do 1 ton axles unless you have some 40s or bigger, lockers or welded diffs, and have a lot of suspension travel like 3 feet worth of travel or else it just more weight on it and it will crumple that xj if you roll. But if your set on doing it i would just make you reinforce everything and i mean everything even if its seems strong weld some metal to it

i am goin with chevy motor an trans so i could always just get a old style and run a 14 bolt and a 44 or 60 what ever i can find

The 14ff under some of the delivery type vans is almost narrow enough to fit under the XJ then get a jk Hi pinon 44 and you would have some serious axles and there wouldn't be as much fab as with the full width axles. It would run 36-38s easy.

If it's cheap enough go for it but the only lockers for the D50 are ARB and Lock Right, 5.38 is the lowest gear which is pretty low. The Sterling can use an ARB, Lock Right and True Track and gear ratios to 5.38 as well. If it had a tow package it will have either 3.73s or 4.10s with a LSD. The D50 is fairly strong, not as strong as a 60 but slightly more than a 44. If it's an early 03 it will be leaf sprung and easily cleaned up but the later 03s were coil sprung and will take a bit more work with a torch and grinder. Good luck and happy fabbing.
