I just did the swap from turdy-five to chry 8.25. When you have them both off the Jeep and compare the two, pretty big difference, the 8.25 is has much more beef!

ABS was only available on D35, but D35 does not mean ABS. I've seen a few without it. ABS wasn't an option with the C8.25 until the KJ

Correct. My Jeep has the turd and NO abs - thankfully.

Speaking of swapping axles, does the 8.25 need a larger u-bolt plate? I thought sure it did, but I can't remember for sure.

The 8.25 I got had new leafs attached already so they came off with the axle, then I just swapped it right in, the new rear leafs were VERY badly needed I might add. Pretty sure you would need a larger u-bolt plate since the axle is larger... but since I did not need to touch them can't say 100%

Yep that's a Chrysler 8.25".

What year is your Jeep? 95 and down, the 8.25 is 27 spline with smaller diameter shafts... about the same strength as (some would argue that it's weaker than) a Dana 35.

97+ have 29 spline shafts and larger diameter shafts... arguably as strong as a Dana 44.

96 is a crap-shoot. Literally a 50/50 chance of the good 8.25 or the "meh" one.

I have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4.0l. I just installed a Stroker engine and now when I come to a stop the engine idle goes up and down than stalls. If I put it in neutral it will not hunt and stall. I am not sure where to go from here. I opened the throttle body for more air it idles normal. Any suggestions?
Thank you Ron Egidio

Anybody got a good link for a door hinge pin/bushing replacement (the actual parts required and/or a DIY) for a 1993 Cherokee? The door is sagging and it's not the hinge (hinge was re-welded by the PO). It's my understanding that the earlier door pins were different than later model years; I am confused about what parts/process is right for a 93. Thank you for the help.

Try cleaning the Idle Air Control motor on the throttle body as well as the housing that it attaches to. Sounds like it's sticking shut and doesn't want to return to its correct position at idle.
