Not necessary.

The spring was in there from the factory so they could vacuum fill the cooling system on the assembly line without the lower hose collapsing.

Interesting. I knew they aren't needed, but I never knew why they were included.

Quick Question on the factory air intake box on a 1996 Cherokee with the 4.0.

There is a small rectangular opening on the front of the box.

Is that supposed to be wide open or covered by something?

Some years are wide open, some have a little tunnel that restrict air to from the headlight cavity, making it a "cold air intake"

Same as an XJ

75W90 API GL-5, 3 quarts should do the whole thing, keep 4 handy. LSD additive if required. I don't imagine that WJ's going to do any towing lol

Just picked up an Aussie locker for my front Dana 30, I know limited slips require special oil, what do I use with a locked front end?

Whatever API GL-5 you like that Aussie approves of, but with a bit of friction modifier added. Nearly every synthetic 75w90 I've seen has the stuff already in.

Default HELP!!

OKAY soo today i decided id finally fix the surface rust on my drivers side door on the edge closest to the door handle. So i happily lifted my door off (removable door mod) and took out the grinder with a flap disc and started sanding. after the edge was down to clean metal i decided to remove those pesky rubber flat things stuck to the door because there was rust underneath and they fell off the other side so i ripped them off it took some paint off to which is okay because I planned on sanding all of the left over adhesive and paint in that area with the plans of rattle caning it black so I started sanding away and i hit bondo! and gouged it up really bad with the flap disc so thats where in at the whole bottom of the door is covered in about a 1/4" thick layer of bondo that is gouged up and ruined and i don't know why its there. btw if someone can tell me how to post pics ill post high res images. ThankYou

Is the crank sensor for a manual different from the one with automatic?

The bottom of the door likely rusted away, and it wasn't fixed properly. If that's the case, you may be able to buy a lower door panel to weld in from c2cfabrication.com or you could just replace the door

What brand?

Did you put the dielectric grease into the boots upon installation?
