Default 4.0 head crack?

I just recently bought a 2000 Cherokee with now 190000 miles I just recently changed the oil it came out like black water so I put 10-40 weight in it now I have a lifter tap and I saw a video on YouTube of a cracked head and it sounded just like my motor so I checked my coolant looked fine I have no check engine light the tap is usually caused by slug falling on to the lifter if I am correct I see nothing in the oil could it just be my oil pushed some slug in the lifter causing it to tap and if this help the noise sounds like a marble being rolled on un even sheet metal

What filter did you spin on?

Sounds to me like your engine simply doesn't like your new oil and filter.

Default Strange noise

I will do my best to describe what I am hearing, not being mechanically inclided. There are two noises.
2001 Cherokee Limited. 215K.
Most recent maintenance: Greased the slip-yoke.
What I am hearing is a sort of light grinding sound. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds as if my brakes were at the beginning stages of needing replacement. Not a full-on grinding, but a sort of soft grinding or scraping. Except, it's not coming from my brakes. It's coming, it seems, from the transfer case, or at least it's echoing up through there. It does it all the time when I am driving, but because of driving noise, it's really only prominent when I am going say 25-30 and I let off the gas. If I stick my ear down by the 4WD shift lever while driving, I can hear it at any speed. Second noise: While in Drive, but at a stop, I hear a sort of knuckly rattle coming from down in the same area (it does not do this while in park). It also does this sometimes when going slow over bumbs.

I have been slowly working out all of the little rattles and squeaks, so I may be paraniod about the grinding, as it does not seem to affect driveability, but it seems to be more prominant over the last couple of days. Last night, I replaced both drive indicator bulbs, and found about $5 worth of coins down there, but after pulling them out, neither sound went away.
Any help is appreciated!

Ever change the fluid, of even check the level, in your transfer case?

Check fluid, check for play in DS but also check the TC mount. Make sure your exhaust isn't rattling right by the mount

When I bought it a month or so ago, I had a used car inspection, and I believe this is one of the things that they checked, but I could be wrong. They did say that the transfer case was in good condition.

Thanks. I know my exhaust does have a couple rattles. But the grinding is a constant sound, as if something were clamped down on a spinning part. It's not really a rattle or bang.

This might sound stupid, but is it possible that when clamping to boot back on after greasing the slip-yoke, that I clamped it too tight?
