In theory, if the gap is too big the cps shouldn't be able to generate the right intensity of the square wave that is necessary to trigger the coil and the injectors. That means it shouldn't work at idle either. Now since you don't have an oscilloscope in your pocket the only way you have to be sure that it's a matter of CPS is try with another CPS.

for the rust issue definitely try and use the por 15 after getting as much rust off as you can. a buddy of mine has an 86 Toyota PU and used that stuff on the edge of his bed a few years back and the rust spots he had are no longer and probably saved his bed. just make sure you clean it up first though.

If you're putting that por 15 over that rust spot you could use fiberglass mesh to strengthen that area even better, just saturate the por 15 into the mesh really well. Let it dry and it will be harder then a rock!

@ PHIL!!!!!

hAHAHA I thought i had blow by turned out my rear ccv valve into the exhaust was clogged solid so i had oil basically pumping out of the front ccv tube to air box.

Mine doesnt have blowby, I pulled the fill cap while it was running to check..

Hah That sucks, I'm pretty sure mine is clogged shut too. My breather is soaked.

Pull the rear hose completely off, use compressed air (if you have it) to spray it out. I dont have compressed air, so I used a bunch of liquid wrench with the "straw" on it and blew it out.

The renix, AFAIK just has CCV and the rear is a metered orifice. I used a screwdriver to scrape out any carbon and sprayed a tinybit of PB blaster in it. Then I put the hose back on.

For the front: Route it so the middle is lower than any other point.

What tools would everyone suggest for repairing rusted floor pans. Welder not available. Air compression isn't strong enough to run my air tools.

angle grinder with lots of cutoff wheels, drill, pop rivets, silicone caulk, rustproof bedliner/paint
