Wanting to go to an Aftermarket Wooden steering wheel on my '96 se.
how does one take the steering wheel off 'completely', not just the air bag..
And will it trow a code light?
unbolted the 5/16'ths/8mm nuts in back but still won't pull out.
(don't think it's coffee or other drinks sticking it either)
Read of the 'clock spring' but that will be gone if I can.

I usually change my steering wheels here since it get's soo hot (and usually don't have cars that have air cond to cool them down) and would like to not fry my hands every time I drive it in summer.

This valve, (white connection, black body) located next to the window washer tank, is clicking away like a clock. I can feel it when I touch it.

You need to disconnect your battery, wait a few minutes, remove the airbag, and you'll need a large socket for the steering wheel nut, snap ring and/or lock ring pliers, and a steering wheel puller tool.

Evap purge canister. During colder warm ups itll make noise for a minute or two then stop. If its constantly going then there's a chance it can't create a vacuum in the system, usually caused by failing gas cap, primary culprit.

Got all that, and the tools, but it wasn't coming off in the first place. (the air bag)
Watched vids and THIERS was easy peasy. BUT NOT MINE

ALSO, anyone know if by NOT having the stock airbag system, the system will not recognize it and throw a code?
Don't want to be staring at a check light all the time.

Well you're gonna have an issue with no airbag, and you're gonna have an issue with no clock spring. Your airbag light will be on, your CEL may stay on, and your horn won't work

I've been having some stuttering issues on my 99 4.0 and I've replaced both of two sensors of clean throttle body I've replaced the throttle body sensor and I've cleaned the idle control thingy and I still when its called get some spidering a little backfire on that it's good to go anybody else have any ideas that's question 1 question 2 I'm leaking some antifreeze and not coming from the radiator I can't see that it's coming from the heater or heater hoses it's just I've gots antifreeze under my Jeep in the morning

I hate when my rig spiders.. Could be o2 sensor related.. Though they report, not generate info.. So you cleaned the TB and replaced the TPS and IAC. those would be the thingies no? Ignition coil and grounds all good. Overall tune up status?

Prob 2- start jeep and look for leak. cracked line most likely. Wont see it till system is under pressure. Also look for coolant built up around T stat/water pump.


Next time please try to use words, not sounds to describe parts. If you don't know the name post a pic to help indicate.. And work on that sentence structure.

Does applying heavy throttle (especially from a stop) make it worse than regular driving?

Check your water pump. The first warning sign of a failing water pump is coolant weeping from the aptly named weep hole. If it isn't that, more details would help, such as telling/showing us where the drips are landing relative to the length of the engine block.

I have a few questions about my exhaust

Does any one know the OD tube diameter for an 01' XJ SE (4.0L manual) exhaust (its either 2" or 2.25") I need to replacs the flange and donut before the Cat

Also, do all 3 bolts at that connection need to be (or should be) the ones wih springs? And what size do I need (the ones there now are unrecognisable , and only 1 is the spring bolt, not.sure of.that is right or not)
