anyone have any luck with aftermarket door lock actuators?
98 XJ sport with power locks and windows.
My Door lock actuator on the driver door and rear passenger door, i believe are dead. Maybe 1 out of 20 times, they will work, but most of the time, it just makes the whine noise from the door lock motor. So, my assumption is that the door lock actuators need replacing.
thing is, im not about to dish out $100 per actuator to fix this. This is a 16 year old jeep, and quite frankly, i dont think its worth putting in that kind of money for something so minimal.
Anyway, I heard some people talking about universal lock actuators that cost like $5. Checked them out on amazon, the seem to have good reviews.
My question is, has anyone had any luck using universal door lock actuators? I know there is wiring involved, and all that good stuff, but is it worth it? Do they hold up and do the job? or is it a "you get what you pay for" type of thing?
I would really like to go this route if its worth it; so any good/bad thoughts on this option, as well as any form of guidance for installation, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can you hook me up with an amazon link for these $5 actuators? My '88 has some issues with this too and I would like to fix it with the little $ I have.
Cheers!

This isn't what you want to hear, but I replaced the driver's power door lock motor in my '97 Grand with Genuine MOPAR.
Yeah, they are a little pricey. But I put 2 used ones in there that didn't work. They are a beotch to replace. I made sure I wouldn't have to do it again.
New factory parts are sure pretty.
