Anyone every have a floorboard replaced? If so, how much did it run through a bodyshop?

Unfortunately, no bodyshop will even shoot me a ballpark estimate, and I don't feel like taking a day off and losing pay just to get an estimate that I may not think is reasonable.

I have given this cherokee to my brother a few years ago, then he parked it, and left a window open, which runied the driver side floorboard, front and rear.

I had considered just welding them in myself, or just layering in some fiberglass after cutting the rot away. It's not totally gone, but the front drive floorboard is saturate with rust, up to the side of the transmission tunnel.

-Thoughts?

I patched a hole that ran the length of my pass. side floor on my old xj. Its not really that hard at all if you know how to weld (you don't even really have to be good). Just get some 18 guage sheet metal and patch it up. You could even pop rivet it and then fiberglass the seams to get some added ridgidity over just fiberglass

i bought my xj for 500 bucks and it had no floorboards like almost literally. my wife almost fell through the passenger side once we got home. i got a buddy that works for the highway department and he gave me a bunch of steel street signs. i welded those bastards in there and havent had a problem with it at all. i advise you go steal yourself some signs, chop that bad boy up and armor the bottom with either roofing tar or por 15. roofing tar is inexpensive if youre tight on cash. anyways i did mine and por 15 it and i got one sexy floor pan now for almost free
