Default Airbag module?? under console? 98 xj

i took out my center console, and there is an aluminum module under it. behind the e-brake lever. can i discard that box???

Do you not want airbags? If so yes, you can remove the module.
but FIRST, disconnect the battery, then both airbags, then remove the module.
airbags are EXTREMELY sensitive. People dont realize how sensitive actually, it's essentially a rocket motor with a bag attached to it, IF you accidentally ground one out it WILL go off.
