hey everyone, thanks for the add!! just bought a 2000 xj 4.0 litre. it has a wicked exhaust drone while stopped at a red light. factory exhaust. anyone experience this, or have a fix? thanks for your time

What is your idle while stopped at a light? Also, keep in mind these are older vehicles and don't have much insulation, so it will be noisier in the cab

the factory exhaust manifold is prone to cracks, so check that very carefully.

otherwise should be fairly quiet, they drone a bit with larger diameter pipes

Seems like the 2 piece manifolds don't really crack in the '00's and '01's like the '99 and down ones.
I always assumed it might have been one of the reasons that they made the change. That and the different head.
I never noticed a drone in mine but my hearing isn't the best.
Possibly just an exhaust leak?
