So I got the CC782s and K160039 for my 2000. The isolators don't fit in the springs very well and technically 2000s are not on the 782 fitment chart. Is a mod necessary? Are they really the best choice? Should I just install and let the weight of the vehicle force them to seat?

The issue is that the top of the pigtail is bent in a little bit so it's no longer round. Stock isolaters have a metal support ring so it's not flexible. I'm pretty sure the weight of XJ would squash it in there but I'm really not liking to do it that way. I could go back to my original plan and use Crown 52001125 and a slightly larger spacer.

Fitment of CC782 4.0 XJ 4WD is 89-90 and 92-96 so it would appear a lot of people squashed 'em in!

In the instances where guys used 782s on 1997 to 2001 they also used spacers so perhaps that allowed a little more leeway. And indeed, the Teraflex 001905175 3/4" Coil Spacer, which is what I would use cause I only need about 1" of lift, claims it will fit 84-06 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Mayhaps I shall call tech support of Moog and Teraflex and see what they have to say...

Got my Teraflex 001905175 spacers today and indeed the lower lip is a little smaller than OEM and fits easily (perhaps even a little sloppily) into the top of the CC782, so going to go ahead and install the 782s.

Can you give us some more info:
1) did you leave the stock isolator in place and use it in conjunction with the Teraflex spacer?
2) after a few months of settling, what are your hub center to fender well trim measurments?

Background: I installed the CC782 coil on a 96 Country Feb 2013 and they have held up well. I left the stock isolator in place and did not use any spacers. Today's measurements are 19 1/8" from hub center to fender well trim. I rebuilt the entire front end at the time and it all came out well. I was always very happy with the ride and handling of the resulting package.

I'm now getting ready to do the same on a 99 Classic (my daily driver) and have the Daystar 1.75" spacers. Removing the stock isolators, the package should result in about a 20" measurement (hub center to fender well trim). I'd guess that's approximately a 2.5" lift. I'm agonizing over whether or not that is more than I want - I might be better off with the .75 spacer (and removing the stock isolator)? The latter option would put me at the same 19 1/8" height as the 96 Country. So, I'm looking forward to your info. A pic would also help.

I used the 1.25" Teleflex spacers and did not keep the stock isolators. Today I measured 20" which oddly is higher than the 19.5" when I first installed them. I put on VERY few miles tho, but occasionally tow a pretty big boat.

I originally thought the variable rate springs were noisy as I heard a "clack" every now and then, but I think it's actually where the spring may touch the stabilizer bracket (I had to weld on new spring perches and all related brackets when I redid my front axle, and I may have put that bracket too close to where the spring would eventually go).
