Default 99 Cherokee Cranks. No fire.

Long story short. Hit a waterhole (my dumb mistake) and motor died. Pulled her out. Cranks and cranks but no fire. It's not hydrolocked. Changed the CPS with one off my parts rig. Pulled the distributor cap. Cleaned it out. Checked the rotor out. I had to replace a blown 15a fuse under the hood. I'm getting fuel. I'm getting air. No spark.

Do you have any check engine lights? If so I'd get a scan and see where it puts you. If not, I would do an ECU reset. Next I would do a CPS testing procedure to indefinitely rule that out.

If that shows good.. I would probably do a test on your coilpack and stator (inside distributor).

I have kind of had this problem before but a little different. Went in to deep and cylinder 3 and 5 began not firing. All I had to do was pull the plug wires and pack them with dielectric grease and it worked perfectly. This could be your problem just in all cylinders.

I've pulled the plugs. No water was inside it. I swapped the CPS from a running 4.0 so I know it's good.

That link I posted also troubleshoots if you're getting proper signal to your CPS..

Thats just what worked for me. If that didn't work I would defiantly agree with Indeepwithajeep, especially with checking the coil pack. It doesn't take very much water in there to ruin it.

Coil pack as in ignition coil? Because I don't have the coil pack on the motor.

That's what I'm thinking. I had a buddy assisting me last night. And we were tracing wires. Found some that were exposed. I'm going to fix em and such and see if it works. There's 3 connections on the mounting studs correct?

And no I haven't yet. It's been freezing temps at night so don't want to freeze anything. It's sitting on my trailer currently.

Yes sorry I meant ignition coil. What three connections on what mounting studs? And yes check the alternator though it is usually not effected untill it has seen alot of dirt and water abuse.

No codes. Still no fire. I've changed CPS, distributor cap, coil, plugs, wires, checked all fuses, swapped relays. I'm totally clueless.

There is a sensor in your distributor--i forget the exact name--that fixed that very issue on mine. I had to pull the distributor to change it but it was worth it.
