99 cherokee with blown head

99 cherokee with blown head
I'm looking at getting a 99 grand cherokee limited 4x4 with 200k miles for 1200 ..everything works perfect inside and out but has blown head gasket....what do u think?????

I've seen plenty of them on my local craigslist for that much and that many miles running and driving. I personally wouldn't pay 1200 for one with a blown head gasket.

He might check in the Grand section. Not sure about the infamous 0331 head in a 99 Grand. I think the number faces up on the left side of the head. (google crack 0331 head). Some of the later Grand have the revised 0331, with a "TUPY" foundry nark under the oil filler.
Also since they crack in the middle, you might just look under the cap and see if you see it...

The wj was first with the 0331 head when it rolled out in 99,They used it on them 99 to somewhere in 02 or 03 when they replaced it with the tupy head.If the jeep is spotless besides the head problem i would buy it for 600 to 800 and replace the head or maybe the whole motor.
