Default blinker, blower and airbag light, all at once

I got several problem with my 01 xj and I am not sure if they are related...

1. The climate control blower is not working, it start failing at lower level first (4 still works), then it stop working blowing at the top, and it eventually stop working today.

2. Blinker just stop working today. 4 way parking light still works, but I can't use turn signal.

3. Airbag light come on.

coincidence? Or all related? The only thing I did was check the fuse on the signal light. they are okay.

I would like to hear you guys input before I look at the "blinker relay" under the steering/gauge...

for the heater, i would try replacing the heater control unit (head with switches). on my 99 tj, with the round controls, they tend to get very hot and melt the connections/wires. start by replacing yours and check the wires/connectors for signs of melting.

for the "blinker", it could be the signal switch in the column.

and as for the air bag light and whatnot, it may be the clock spring. do you loose your tach and speedo when that comes on? mine does but all i do is smack the dash above the steering wheel and it comes back to life.

I decided to use my 1 hr lunchtime to fix the blinker at the parking lot of my office....

First thing I do (and the easiest thing), I replacing flasher relay - doesnt work. indeed, taking the original relay apart proven that the relay works with the hazard light.

then I decided to take apart the turn signal switch. big mistake. springs and parts just explode and flew everywhere in the car. I guess I have no hope to get it assemble before end of lunch....

I will drive home without turn signal again.

time to shop for a new switch.

do you guys think it's a good idea to wear dress pants and shoes walking into a pull-a-part to pull out a blinker switch?

so... I replace the blinker relay with a advanceauto one. no luck.

I went to junk yard and pull a used switch... still no luck. only hazard works.

I also replace the heater core resistor from a advanceauto unit, no luck too.

I found the blower fan fuse blown... I swap the fuse from the cooling fan just for testing... still no luck.....

any write out how to test the blower motor?

Thanks

so... find out the prolem... I blown a fuse!!!!

not the blower fan fuse.

not anything related to the blinker.

there is a 40A fuse for accessories after ignition. I blown that one.

dumb... and a waste of a good blinker switch. well, at least I found out whats the problem.

that was actually the first thing that came into my head, but quickly dismissed it just cause it's usually the first thing anybody checks.

well at least you've got it all sorted out...

I check the blower fan fuse, but I didn't check the two ignition switch fuse since my truck can start and hazard flasher is working....

live and learn...
