Default '97 push lock tranny/rad line question...

I've searched for this plastic push lock I had on my old radiator to no avail, I put in a new rad and I'm trying to reuse the plastic lock and its just not working..

In my search every line I've seen that plugs onto the 90* copper line from rad have 4 prongs like a typical push lock line, but mine is smooth on the inside, thus this mickey mouse plastic push lock...

Is this plastic lock suppose to be on the other side of collett?? Would make more sense I guess but this is how it was when removed...

Thought it was on, started it and nasty old tranny fluid leaks out.... anyone seen this plastic trash?? Havent seen anything like it..

I believe that set-up is supposed to have an o-ring or two. That may be why it's not sealing.

Edit: Just noticed yours is a '97. The disconnect in the image looks like the type for pre-'97.

I dont think its missing anything, its not pushing into a locked position and the plastic sticks out further so adding an o ring would make it worse... after closer examination I think the plastic lock is worn... anyone have a part number by chance??

Id like to make this work so I dont have to remove the fan and cut it off and mod it with a hose clamp.... much easier just to click it on while squeezing my arm down there.....

I can't find a part # for the plastic alone.

I guess you could "upgrade" to the newer style line with the 4-prong metal clip or use one of the leak repair kits that are available or use clamps with rubber hose specifically for trans fluid like some people do. Your choice.

Those clips are available at most chain Auto parts stores like advance and auto zone in the Dorman Help parts section.

The Dorman/MTM or "Motormite" section, should have some GM, Chryco, and Ford connectors like those.

First try completely cleaning the entire fitting with brake cleaner.
Any dirt will keep it from sealing correctly.
OP,if u get a new fitting please post the part #.
