92 Parts for an 87
Hello folks-Just looking for some advice. I might be able to pick up a '92 for parts for my '87. Currently, I need a rad, rear springs and front hub for the '87. The '92 has an "open" type cooling system. Can I use the rad and convert mine to that? Any one know if the other fittings for trans cooler are the same?
By the time I price out rear springs, rad, hoses etc, this parts jeep is looking like a good deal (low mileage too-just rusted out floors).
Thanks!

You are good for the springs, probably the hub's. Likewise probably the rad will go fine. I think 92 has the fan switch in the rad, (near air cleaner).
You could look somewhere like rockauto and see if the hub numbers are the same.
I'm clueless on the trans lines. I can say both of mine are spliced with 3/8 fuel line, it's not supper high pressure.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know about those trans lines. I got it all apart this afternoon and the quick connects disconnected ok. Took the hoses and T-stat off as well. Might as well change it all to new.

Cooling system is easy as long as there is a bung in the left side tank for the fan thermo switch like on yours.
Springs are fine.
Check with a parts supplier about the hubs.

I can't believe it but the guy scrapped the '92. So I went and ordered a new rad, hoses, thermostat. Oh well.
These Jeeps are hard to come by in the rust belt and people don't realize that the parts are worth way more than the whole Jeep. With the price of steel so high, a lot of stuff is getting scrapped. No one's going to want a 2008 Corolla-Go scrap them. Leave the old stuff for cars you can fix.

I'm with you 67. (Btw my 64 GMC is here with me). You are younger than my 56. I'd always thought all those Chevy or Toyota or Ford parts would be out there. NOT! Unless you can find a local guy who "get's it" ,That gets crushed for scrap $.

Yes-It just seems like a waste to let all the good stuff go to the melt...sad really. I got pulled over in my '67 by a cop who said he hated all these old trucks on the roads - they're just unsafe rust buckets. I would bet my old '67 would survive with only a dent if I smashed into his new impala (which would be totalled!). I didn't say that of course and I got off with a warning to have my tail light fixed.
