Default 91 xj fuel tank

I bought a new fuel tank and sending unit for my 91 xj with a 4.0. I keep having problems with the seal leaking around it. I've put it together 3 times and it lasts for a bit and then it starts leaking again, almost like it's shifting. I get the retaining ring tight every time but just looking for tips, possibly a epoxy or silicone type to help it seal completely. I'd weld it shut at this point lol.

Have you made sure the retaining ring is tight all the way around? And new rubber o ring? I've never ran into this problem. And welcome to the forum

Yes I believe the I ring is tight, I'll try to get a new O ring set and try again.

Yea, try a different O ring. Should fit tight, like you were lucky to even get it started....

Almost any sealant on any O ring is a bad idea. Tranny fluid......

Usually, the new o-ring is so big that you can get the lock ring to seat properly. I took the lock ring and ground down the "teeth" so that they are a lot sharper and fit under the tabs. That's the hardest part of the job in my opinion. Make sure you put the sender in the right way.
