91 to 89 engine swap? Can this be done?
Hi,
I am new to the whole 4x4 game and just recently came across 2 Jeep Cherokees for $600. The 1989 is lifted and running. However it is stick which Im not a big fan of shifting especially when Im hunting (which is why I purchased the rigs). The 1991 is a sport, all stock, and does not run. The wire harness caught fire about a year ago, but the engine and tranny are still in great shape. My question is will I be able to take the HO engine out of the 91 and install it into the 1989. Any advise would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again. I hope you all had a blessed chrismas and happy new years!

you can do it there are just a few things that you ned to do and a ho renix hybrid thing. Search that on here and you will find out what parts you need to mix and match.
Why dont you just get a wiring harness and swap the lift? Sounds easier in my opinion. With the 89 being renix and the 91 being obd.
