So the vacuum system on that 87 i just got is totally shot, with that in mind i removed the vacuum shifter fork from the d30 and put a spring behind it and re-installed to hold the collar across and keep the axle engaged all the time so i can use 4wd.

Now that part i seem to be missing and cannot find anywhere is the switch that must trip the light for 4wd. I am amusing there is one for a light on the dash right? The switch is on the transfer case in my TJ but does not seem to be on the 231 on the Cherokee?

Is there one and if so where is it located. Have other people had this issues and how has it been bypassed?

On my jeep 1990 xj 2 dr with a dana thirty in the front there is an indicator switch under the hood on the passenger side by the icu/coil and diagnostic center a vacuum hose runs to it and when enough is there it engages the light in the dash.

I just put the POSI LOK system in mine.There is a ball plunger on the axle with a wire that runs to the fender under the fuse block.When ingadged the ball grounds the circut turning the light on.

But this is just on the Pois Lok system right? the stock system has a switch as listed in the post above.. correct?
