87' won't crank/turn over
The past few days when I would go to start the jeep it would take a couple times of turning the key for it to turn over. I would turn the key, get no crank, turn it off and turn it again and then it would start. Today, i went to start it, and not only did it not start but the ignition got stuck on aux mode and I had to hammer it back into the off position. I then tried it again, it actually turned on and was running but then once I turned it off, it wouldn't turn over again.
I just put new headlights in, the "brighter" version of the basics a few days ago. It's manual transmission. When I put it in aux mode it does get power. I do hear the fuel pump prime.
I did do a search, but was rough navigating. Figured I'd read some replies tonight from the community before I start working on it in the morning. Thanks for your time.

Since the ignition got stuck in aux mode when turning the key. I'm wondering if it's just a ignition issue and not starter/solenoid issue. Anyone have any thoughts?

The ignition switch is mounted on the lower column, it is adjustable to some extent, but it's probably very worn and not making good contact.

In case someone finds this post by searching similar issues I had.
It was the lock cylinder. I bought a new one for about $13 at AutoZone and borrowed their steering wheel/plate remover tools for a $40 deposit. Once installed, it started up fine.

Note from DJ
Thanks for having the courtesy to posting how the problem was fixed.
I hope that you updated your headlight wiring harness when you updated your headlights or you will soon have another problem.
