Default 5 spd manual

Have a 91 cherokee 4.0 200k plus on the odometor guy I bought it from said he rplaced the clutch I took hm for his word. 3-4 months later now and the thing is relly hard to get into gear unless turn off the engine. My question is.... Are these transmissions problematic? And is it common for the slave cylinder to go out without warning?

Have you checked the level of fluid in the clutch master reservoir?

I would start there.

Syncros. The fluid that used to be recommended was acidic and wears down "yellow" metals like brass. The syncronizers are made out of brass. Change you tranny fluid to regular old 10w-30. Atleast that is what I have read. My AX-15 does that too, same storyvabout the PO. But mine just needs a little more force, not a lot.

I go through a clutch reservoir at least everyday. I just drive around with it low, it is hard to get it in gear after the engine/tranny warms up whether it's full or empty.

I'm guessing i need a new clutch? advice plz

You most likely need a new slave cylinder, which means you should probably replace your clutch master cylinder also. The whole warming up issue means you should probably change to a proper transmission gear oil

Start the car with the trans in first gear. Keep your foot on the brake and let the clutch out slowly. If you can use your right foot to hold the brake and give a little gas at the same time (toe on the brake and heel on the gas). You'll find out fast if you need a clutch, i've seen cars that need a clutch that will continue to run with the clutch petal out and the brake on. If the engine stops easily it's not the clutch.
