If it's the np231 transfer case as in "2H,4H,N,4L" then you are using it on terrain where the wheels can't slip and its binding your drive line. Don't use your TC on dry pavement. You can damage a lot o of things that way.

Nothing is wrong. The reason it does that is because both driveshafts are turning at the exact same rate but all 4 wheels are turning at different speeds. If you are not on a slick surface (dirt, snow) then you will bind everything up and your jeep will not be happy.

Read your owners manual on how to operate your transfer case.

If it's starting to do that when engaged it just means it's not slippery enough to use it.

I don't agree with this. It will do it on dirt in 4lo at full cut. It's just the drivetrain fighting the terrain.

If his is stuck in 4wd and doesn't do that on dry pavement then idk what to say. That to me sounds like it's not in 4wd. You should not be able to turn at full cut in 4wd on dry pavement without binding/hopping

Okay. You're new.

Have you ever checked the fluid levels/condition in both front and rear diffs, transfer case, and transmission since you've owned this Jeep?

What's the coolant look like?

Have you greased every zerk fitting on the driveshafts and front suspension and at the same time visually inspected components for wear?

How about those u-joints at the outer ends of the front axle?

What kind of shape are the brake pads and shoes in?

Motor mounts and trans mount in good shape?
