metal on metal sound when accelerating usually going uphill btween 2000rpm and 3000rpm coming from engine bay sounds like a sticky lifter or valve or maybe a misfire on one of the cylinders jw if anyone has had this same problem and wat was it you had to fix

If it is a lifter, or rod knock, I think it would be different than a misfire. If theres a misfire it's gonna effect the performance of the jeep and cause some amount of power loss, or at least a slight hesitation of some kind. Could it be the flex plate is loose? Have you changed the oil or done and maintenance work recently?

yeah i just change the oil not too long ago with rotella 15w 40 and everything is fine till i jump down a gear uphill and then it starts to really tick when going from 1750rpm up to about 2500 then it shifts up and shuts up when it goes back down to about 1500rpm

ONLY under a load? Not valve train related.

Auto trans? Check the flexplate bolts first and foremost as already suggested.

Well. It sounds like theres a couple things to check. First, yeah, get the squealing to stop. Load test your alt and battery, if ya want, but also, the evap canister makes a tick noise and it seems like it might do it more after things have heated up.. Check your sensors like TPS, IAC, o2's.. A decent mechanic with a good diagnostics computer can tell you if theres something up with sensor voltage, compression..
