my buddy has a front and rear end out of a 5 speed 93 jeep cherokee. how can i tell what gears are in them? i know 3.07's come in the 5 speeds but he bought the jeep blown up with a lift and bigger tires on it. my jeep has the 8 1/4 in the rear and his is a d35. i thought about buying his front and rear for spares because he sai i can have them for $150. that sounds like a decent deal to me.

Get the tires off the ground. Spin a tire one full turn while watching how many rotations the driveshaft spins. If the DS spins just over 3 turns to 1 turn of the tire, most likely 3:07's. If it spins 3 and 1/2 times, 3:55's, and so on.
