Default 2004 Grand Cherokee Towing capacity

Hello everyone. I have a 2004 grand Cherokee. With an automatic tranny and inline six. It has an after market Reese class III hitch. I am wonder about towing a travel trailer that has a weight distribution/anti-sway system on it. What could I safely tow with this setup? Thanks for any input.

when you open the door and look at the side of it, it should say the factory spec there.

The tow rating of 5,000 would be correct for a GC that came from the factory with the factory tow setup. Tow ratings always reduce to the vehicles weakest link. Since you have an aftermarket receiver hitch, you'd need to verify it's rating along with your hitch draw bar and hitch ball. Also, a factory GC would have come with a tranny cooler. I'm not sure about stock, so you'd need to verify that. They are easy to add and cheap insurance. If you're going to be towing much, I'd make sure you transmission maintenance is up to date.

Well the travel trailer that I am looking at weighs 5400lbs dry. My plan was to only have to pull it one time about 600 miles and then park it. But that exceeds the rating already. Thanks for the info.
