2000 XJ Rear gate electrical
Had a customer come in with the high mount stop light not working. Changed the bulb and still not working. Further examination revealed that nothing in the gate worked. No wiper, no rear dfrost. Tore into it and found where the harness goes between the gate and body had broken wires in it. This goes down to a connector inside the left quarter. Called the local dealer and they quoted $1300.00 for a new harness!!!!(not a misprint) I was wondering if this is a common problem, or should I get one from a junkyard. If it is common, I obviously don't wanna do that. Any other suggestions other than trying to rewire the harness I have???

Holy crap is right. I'll have to call again tommorrow and try again. Maybe he was busy and looked up the wrong thing. As for the JY thing, it's been a long day and I was thinking YJ. LOL

Actually found the right part at a dodge dealer in Cleveland. Will be here tommorrow. $75. Thats the old part number. Jeep's updated part number lists at $270. Same part. Dodge dealer in Jamestown, NY where I'm from said he stocks the common Jeep parts, because the Jeep dealer in town is hard to work with sometimes. So if anyone needs a dealer part, try a dodge dealer. This dealership is called Lake County Dodge in Jamestown. He found one in cleve. and a couple in Cali.
