Default 2000 Cherokee cylinder 3 misfire

I recently purchased a 2000 Cherokee and it is misfiring so I took it to a local mechanic he says it’s cylinder 3 and told me to change my coil pack. I changed my coil pack and plugs still misfiring. He also says it has a bad o2 sensor would this have anything to do with the misfire? It runs very rough when driving at low rpm and will not go above 3000 rpm. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could be heat soak affecting that particluar injector. Does it clear up if you let it sit for a while, or does it do it no matter what? What codes did he find? Whats the actual code number? Does it have dual cats? They will have four o2 sensors. Which one did he say is bad? Sounds like hes guessing.

Dont drive it until its fixed. Running lean is bad for the cat, or cats if its got duals, and its also bad for the engine in general.

All of what fb97xj1 said and are you aware of the 0331 head defect that plagues 00-01 XJ's? If not, get up to speed on it asap.

All what was said above.
My question is are you running the heat shield on top of the intake manifold?

1. Post EXACT codes here, not just a description. With OBDII, the devil is in the details.

2. Are you having to add any coolant to the reservoir? As already mentioned, get up to speed on the infamous 0331 cylinder head, which came with all 2000-2001 XJs

3. Consider taking it to a different shop/technician. This one sounds like he may be shotgunning it a bit.

Agree on all of the above. Need exact code. could be as simple as a dirty/bad injector.
