Good evening CF!
So, I was beginning to work on swapping out my fuel pressure regulator, when I went to open the hood (done hundreds of times without issue- recently) the latch broke off in the hand AND the hood is partially open and partially latched (see photos)
Does anyone have an idea what to do next? I took off the trim, and see a box holding hte hood release cable. Should I take that off and pull it with pliers to open the hood again?
Is there a hood mechanism I can take off and clean up after I get it back open?

Lots of threads here on CF on this very common problem. Here's a good one:

it's easy. unbolt that little L bracket that the handle was attached on the kick panel, cut some cable housing away, exposing the cable itself.
then just grab with a pair of vise grips and pull to open.
the cable is very easy to replace.

Yep, what he said.
And lube the cable, too, once you have a new one in there. Fluid Film works great for this.

That looks like a nice tool! It's a new one on me, but I think I will get one. Thanks for the heads-up!

There is a video on Youtube somewhere. Using the tool looks a little confusing though. At least to me. One of the reasons that I have not done it yet. But kinda glad this came up because I kind of forgot I want to do this.
