Anti theft DIY ?
People really enjoy testing door handles, breaking windows or straight up stealing jeeps on my street. When I recovered my baby it was on top of a small tree with two broken windows, missing all my beloved tools. Aside from sleeping in the car, is there a reliable and simple alarm system y'all recommend? I googled a few things but all I remember from my first cherokee was the god awful viper system. This is in an all manual lock, Renix.

No alarm is going to keep your jeep safe on its own, but a hidden kill switch can stop it being driven away.
There are quite a few threads which will give you the idea, not many full details on location for obvious reasons.

Old fart with a wrench
One of the coolest kill switches I ever saw was a plunger switch built inside of a cigarette lighter and looked just like the original one. Push it in and the car would start with the key. Left out, no action from the key, not even gauges. 62 Corvette. The guy added a fuel valve in the floor under the carpet by the front edge of the driver's seat. Just a couple suggestions.

If someone is going to steal it, they will. There is no point in making it easy for them.

Can we list booby traps on this site without getting flagged? If so I got a good idea involving a model rocket engine. Definitely gonna ruin your seat but also a thiefs day....and buttocks.

As much as I would LOVE to do this, nowadays, you would end up getting sued for a ton of money by the guy who tried to steal from you.
Although, I imagine if you tied a rubber snake or rat to a string on the door, so when the thief opened the door, they'd probably scream loud enough to alert you.
Honestly though, kill switch would probably be your best bet.

a conventional aftermarket anti-theft system would probably be the best bet, good ones can be triggered by door opening, window smashing, even shaking the car too much..a loud audible alarm sounds
its not a good idea to store items of value within sight...junkies know they can sell tools easily

I've thought of getting gps tracker. A tow vehicle will literally have your rig gone in less then a minute if someone wants it enough with whatever alarm or cutoff switch you have.
