Here's an odd question. I received a box of premium brake pads from Napa. The box did not contain the right sequence of pads.
I'll go back and get replacement for the odd part, but then I got to thinking....
How do I know if I installed the pads correctly.
On the calipers, there is a top rail and a bottom rail that the pads track on
Does the double prong end of the pad go at the top, or on the bottom?

I am thinking that the double prong end goes at the top and the single prong slides along the bottom rail.

Tried looking at Chilton's online for a picture...but they're so crappy they aren't even showing you a Jeep at all. In the absence of a repair manual, does any body have a clue about this?

I usually put them on like i took off the old pads so i never pay attention

I believe I had the double prong on the bottom when I took mine off. Basicly I put the double prong at th bottom, then slide the pads ontop the rotor and they rested on the single top prong. Been driving on em that way with no issues. So I'm pretty sure its right.

Check you tube, I'm sure there is a video on it. I would also replace the rotors, The org. rotors are a lot thinner then the OEM replacements. Prone to cracking apart. That's what I did, JMO!

The double prong goes in the side with the opening in the middle and 2 little holes on the sides I believe. The little prongs should have a thing sticking down on them that slide into those small holes (the one on the bottom in the picture) . The other pad goes on the inside where the bigger hole is, it slides in by the piston thing (the one on top in the picture).

In my picture above just as backup support to my statement, you can somewhat see the two longer prongs sticking out at the bottom in my palm. Hope this helps

Thanks for all the responses. I may have to find an actual OEM manual to find out for sure. The "prongs" I speak of are on either end of the pad. If you look at the pads on Quadratec...look at the Hawk ones for the best picture. One end has two, the other has one. They slide along the top and bottom rail of the caliper. To refresh...Not sure whether two prong end goes on top rail or bottom rail. I do know that you can't mix that up where top has two prong for one rail and one for the other...because if you're lucky enough to get that off in that condition ...you will never get it back on. Found that out after I had them "professionally" replaced. Many cuss words over that episode when I was the one that had to remove that wreck.
Picture above shows the grip springs or clips in the middle of the pad. I DO need to replace those rotors. Still nice and smooth but you can feel a depression at edge where they've worn to about their natural life.

2 prongs bottom rail like I previously stated. Basicly that has the pads sit there and stay secure while resting on the single prong at the Top.
