Could be the ignition switch. Sometimes they will corrode to the point that they don't get a good contact. Mine will do it from time to time. Try pounding on the top of the steering column about mid-way with the side of your fist. That will make mine work. I know it sounds like a stupid thing to do, but it works for me. Don't ask how I found out!! Let's put it this way, I have a bit of a short fuse, and sometimes hitting things will come into the equation!!

Maybe I should just replace the switch, I guess that would make more sense!!

did you test the volts to the small wire while someone was turning the key? it doesn't source power unless someone's turned the key to *start* on inside.

it has a relay I believe, in the relay control center/engine bay fuse box.

yes i checked the small wire at the starter for 12v with the key turned.. I also swap a couple of the relays to see if it fixed it also still no change.. Is the ignition switch one that has to have the steering wheel removed to change it?? I"m seeing where alot of people have had neutral safety switch problems also..

it's probably a NSS switch problem. try starting it in neutral, and check if your backup lights work.

the tumbler is in the steering column, however it's not electrical until 95. it pushes a rod down the steering column to the ign. switch.

so, the switch is one of two that have rods going down to it...the other is the hi/lo beam one, it's on the LH side of the column, whereas the IGN switch is on top.
