Fools the computer and advances the timing. The one on the top is a new high altitude CPS. The bottom one is one I modified. The second photo illustrates the enlarging of one of the CPS mount holes to increase signal strength to the ECU. The third photo shows proper routing of the CPS harness so it doesn't get cooked by the exhaust manifold.

Cruiser’s Renix CPS Advance Mod

The sensor portion of the CPS needs to slide up the perforated bar towards the top of the engine.

Mark the perforated bar's top end with paint or marker.

Place the CPS in a vice, just not quite clamping the bar, the sensor resting on the vice jaws, with the Top part protruding.

Place a bolt that fits tightly into the hole at the Top part of the bar.

With a hammer, tap the Top part of the bar and it will slide through the sensor portion of the CPS. Stop when the sensor portion is about 3/8" from the edge of the bolt hole

Ok so you guys talked me into doing an injector swap. I'm getting ready to order 14 injectors (ref post #1) bosch 0280-155-746 and 12 o-ring sets (ref post #9). Ordering so many do to the fact that I have 2 89 Cherokee 4.0's (Hate to love these things), but I'm rather new to the Jeeps so just woundering if I'm missing anything? Hard to have one down waiting on parts their both DDs.

After putting in the 746,s & 1 can of BG44K & I'm averaging 15.5 MPG around town/road MPG.

Better than the 10 MPG I was getting.

An update. For sure, Renix likes the 746. 16.4 MPG on the last two "knocken around" tanks. I removed the restriction between the air-box and the TB, and got a TPS that kicks down like it should. Also the weather REALLY warmed up. (broke 100 year records in April). Normal winter storm today, cold and 2" rain.

So 11-12, to 13 with the 02 sensor. 13 to 14 loosing the 703's, and going to 746, then 14 to 16+ loosing the restriction. No Idea if the "summer blend" fuel is an issue here.

Over 16 at 273K on short trips, about 1/3 time on gravel! Gotta be at, or over 20 on the highway?.....

Anyone else see an improvement?

As soon as I have the extra time, I want to try Cruiser's advanced CPS. I'm sure it makes perfect scene and may well show yet another improvement. Renix jeeps have a knock sensor that will retard spark if it knocks. (overly advanced ignition timing causes pinging/knocking)

I'm still getting around 10mpg mixed driving after the injector swap. I replaced the o2 sensor, that didn't help much. My cps was failing so I replaced that with one from napa, I don't expect that to help either. Something must not be right on mine but the injectors seem to be working perfect.

Volvo's. If you put the # in Ebay it will tell you more on which ones...me thinks. Got mine shipped for like $36. A couple were sticky.

Also Iluminator you might clean your IAT, sensor (there behind the TB on the top of the intake, and check both that and the engine coolant sensor...

There was this months ago:

My thanks to Ebay vendor zipaquio for a supper deal. Yea, two of six were "sticky" but hey, used "as is", and they freed up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281064226718...84.m1439.l2649

Then this now:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40

AND It was Programbo that put me on to them in the first place.....he has a big pile of injectors. Might check with him.....

Cool. I keep pretty good numbers, saw one MPG, (over 703's), AND it's butter smooth. Let us know...

I got 14 again on the last tank. Granted one tank aint that good a sample, but the higher #'s came on a heat wave, and this was funky, cold weather.
Just for giggles maybe I'll change my IAT for a 200 ohm resistor and see what happens.

Relocate that IAT to the boot.

Not disagreeing Pete. You know us Skotts. I'll just lop off it's head. Then put parts back and see what works.

I "confess" I got not best, contestant #'s from my IAT. It seems that where the copper makes the turn into to IAT, it might suffer the vib's and whatnot an engine does. I'm gonna be watching that pretty closely.
